Founder of DS Hacker

Arkadiusz Modzelewski

I am the founder and originator of Data Science Hacker blog. Already during my second year of university, I discovered that I was fascinated by the world of data. Computer Science studies at the Warsaw University of Technology armed me with very high mathematical and engineering skills. My fascination with data led me to study a second-degree program in Quantitative Methods in Economics and Information System at Warsaw School of Economics. Afterward, I managed to get a DAAD scholarship and left Poland to further develop my knowledge in Statistics & Econometrics at the University of Bonn (according to the Shanghai ranking 2021: 84th best university in the world). Besides, I simultaneously developed my skills and knowledge by taking various courses in Data Science and Machine Learning, e.g. PgCert in ML and DL. In my career, I have gained experience, among others, at one of the Max Planck Institutes, which is a part of the Society with a world-leading reputation as a science and technology research organization and more than 35 Nobel Prizers. I also gained experience working with data as a Statistician in European Border and Coast Guard Agency and as Data Science and Machine Learning Specialist in two companies in the marketing sector. Thirsty to pass on my knowledge, I work as a Data Science Mentor in an EdTech company and decided to start with blog.

Co-founder & Tech Lead

Joanna Broniarek

In short, I’m an analytical thinker with Data & AI Engineering experience. My journey in Data Science began during my bachelor in Applied Physics (University of Warsaw). From the 2nd year onwards, I started a collaboration with a Research Institute in Warsaw (International Institute of Molecular Cell and Biology in Warsaw) where I studied the use of Machine Learning algorithms in the initial stages of drug design. This project gained recognition when I won an award for the best poster at the ACM conference held in Rome, Italy. Soon enough, I moved to Rome in order to pursue a masters in Data Science at La Sapienza University of Rome. Once in Rome, I had the chance to further refine my AI skills, through several courses, a Google summer school, and my thesis in Medical AI at INFN – a research institute where 2021 Nobel prize winner in Physics Giorgio Parisi works at. After leaving academia, I continued my passion in the realm of AI, specifically in data engineering at a marketing company, and currently at a renowned medical AI corporation.

Co-founder & Ethics Lead

Aleksander Jochym

Graduate of the Faculty of Law and Administration at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków. Trainee-attorney-at-law in the Kraków Bar Association. LLM student in German Law at Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz. Enthusiast of Artificial Intelligence and big data.

I’m an author in the non-technical section of the DS Hacker blog, where I describe the development of artificial intelligence through a lawyer’s lens. Professionally, I provide, among others legal services for business entities. Hence, I’m aware of the challenges for the business world brought by the adoption of Artificial Intelligence. Nowadays, rapid technological development requires interdisciplinary knowledge from both ethicists and lawyers. Therefore, I continuously develop my competencies on a technical level. In my free time, I learn programming in Python – the most popular Data Science language.
